The Evolution of Us
We started with a simple frustration — running a martial arts school meant drowning in paperwork, spreadsheets, and administrative tasks that had nothing to do with teaching. We knew there had to be a better way.
So we built one.
OnMat began as a focused tool to help schools track student progress and engagement. But as we worked alongside school owners, we saw the bigger picture — they needed everything in one place. Billing, attendance, belt testing, member communication, curriculum management. Not five different apps. One solution, built specifically for the martial arts world.
Today, OnMat is trusted by schools across the country to handle the business side of running a dojo — so instructors can stay focused on what they got into this for in the first place: teaching, developing students, and building strong communities.
Our Mission
We exist so martial arts school owners can focus on what they love — teaching. More time on the mat, less time at the desk. Everything else is on us.

Excellence
We aim for excellence in all aspects of our business—from the quality of our software to the customer support we provide, ensuring the best experience for our clients.
If it takes a manual to figure out, we didn't build it right. OnMat is designed so anyone on your team can pick it up and run with it — no tech background required.
Martial arts is about more than techniques — it's about belonging. OnMat helps you build stronger connections between instructors, students, and families, both on and off the mat.
Whether you have 30 students or 300, OnMat grows with you. Add the features you need, when you need them — no bloated packages, no paying for things you don't use.
We hold ourselves to the same standard we'd expect from a black belt — consistent, reliable, and always improving. That applies to our software and our support.
What Sets Us Apart
Most school management software is built by software companies who learned about martial arts later. OnMat was built the other way around — by someone who spent years on the mat before writing a single line of code.
That difference shows up everywhere. In features that actually match how schools operate. In support that understands your world. In a product that keeps getting better because we listen to the people using it every day.
We’re not trying to be everything to everyone. We’re built specifically for martial arts schools — and that focus is exactly why our clients stick around.

Meet Our Founder
Eric Pansegrau has trained in martial arts for over 20 years and spent a decade helping run a school firsthand. He built OnMat because he lived the problem — endless admin, paper sign-in sheets, manual billing, and no time left for what matters most: teaching.
With a background in software development and technical leadership, Eric combined his passion for martial arts with his technology expertise to create a solution he wished had existed when he was on the mat every day.
OnMat is the result — built by a practitioner, for practitioners.
